Edmund Probst was born in Kaufbeuren. His brother was Adolph Probst, who co-founded the factory in 1855; both were considered major and outstanding industrialists in Bavaria who established numerous foundations, also for social welfare. Edmund Probst was an honorary citizen of Immenstadt from 1913 onwards.
The Steinicken & Lohr arts and crafts workshop was founded by Otto Lohr and Eduard Steincken (1868-1924), who trained as a goldsmith at Harrach and who was the sole workshop manager from 1913 onwards; the workshop won medals at the Nuremberg 1899 and Paris 1900 exhibitions.
